The storage experts at pureSilicon have launched two new storage solutions, Kage K1 Solid-State Drive (SSD) and the Kage K1 USB 3.0 USB Flash Drive, both part of the new Kage product series. The two devices cram high-capacity storage—up to 400GB and 250GB, respectively—into stylish thin enclosures. Aimed at enterprise and prosumer markets, the drives aren't cheap, but they offer plenty of bang for the buck.

The Kage K1 SSD uses newer multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory to provide higher storage capacity in an even smaller drive. The drive is a mere 9.5mm thick, but is offered in a range of capacities from 100GB to 400GB. Using a SATA 3.0 connection, the Kage K1 is able to transfer data at up to 6Gb/s, with read speeds reaching 540MB/s and write speeds hitting 520MB/s. PureSilicon has also rolled in a few other features to protect your data, with power-management and power-failure protection (called VoltStream), and end-to-end protection of data being transfered. The drive is also self-encrypting, providing enhanced security right out of the box. The Kage K1 SSD is guaranteed for five years and is available for preorder through PureSilicon's website starting at $975.

The Kage K1 USB flash drive brings high capacity and portability with many of the same features as the K1 SSD. The Kage K1 USB drive utilizes a USB 3.0 connection to deliver up to 400MB/s performance, and MLC NAND memory to provide storage capacities ranging from 60GB to 240GB. The housing, which measures a mere 4.5mm thick, is milled from a single aluminum billet, providing durable protection without being any thicker than the male USB connection. The Kage K1 USB Flash Drive is guaranteed for three years, and is available for preorder starting at $230.
